There are quite a few obvious reasons which I will keep brief. Removal of free trade causing playerbase to panic, removal of wilderness, introduction of “power” weapons, rushers in the wilderness, etc. All of these things had an impact on how player’s interact, but I think what had the greatest impact in most people’s eyes was the Grand Exchange.RS 2007 Gold. My question is what kind of impact did it have on the game and would you think it would have a positive impact or a negative impact on OSRS? Keeping in mind that it was actually released in 2007 on November 26th. Before OSRS was introduced I saw a few other players express views similar to mine; that between the release of the Grand Exchange up until the removal of the wilderness was a golden age.

First, I’ll say I had great memories walking around varrock trading other players. I absolutely loved playing Runescape Gold back then and it felt like a thriving community. I also had good memories of the Grand Exchange, but I tend to group those in with more recent years and negative events, partially due to quitting and coming back. But is all the nostalgia of Varrock and Seers bank actually good for thers gold‘sgame in the form of increased player interaction? I don’t think so to be honest. I don’t think the GE cut down on player interaction at all, but I think it changed it. You didn’t have to trade with players, sure, but that just meant you could do other things with your time. Even if you were standing at the GE, then you could be typing in game if you really wanted to. Bots and AFK players are irrelevant, as those are a separate issue (unless GE caused bots or invented AFKing).
